Troubleshooting Reverse Gear Engagement – Installation Steps

If you're having trouble engaging reverse gear after installing the short shifter, follow these steps to correct the issue:

  1. Remove the top plate secured with three triangular bolts.

  2. Lift the car safely using a jack and locate the shifter assembly from underneath the vehicle.

  3. Pull down the rubber boot covering the assembly to reveal the mounting bolt.

  4. Loosen and remove the bolt, then carefully pull the shifter out from inside the car.

  5. Reposition the plastic pivot piece around the ball joint of the assembly to ensure proper alignment.

  6. Reinsert the bolt, making sure to balance the metal fork correctly between the shifter during reassembly.

  7. Tighten everything securely—once complete, test the shifter. Reverse gear should now engage properly.

Note: Always ensure the vehicle is securely supported before working underneath it.
